Experience: Alien, Android and Animal”

Dr. Vint is a Professor in the English Department at the University of California-Riverside. Her research and teaching areas include science fiction, technoculture, popular culture and science, and human-animal studies.

TRADITION Game: Anime Jeopardy
Moderated by Jesenia Arce & Chris Washington

Anime Jeopardy is based on the classic TV game show where contestants compete for the most points to win. Two groups of five participants will try to answer questions about anime and other related topics. Sign up at at the Registration Table. Alternates are welcome. Prizes are provided by the Syphers’ Anime SIGIL. Even if you’re not playing, come and watch!

This event is a how to seminar on the basics of Cardfight Vanguard Trading Card Game. Topics discussed will be introduction of gameplay and clans along with useful tips for first time players.

THE CLUB Game (Tournament): Yu-Gi-Oh
Moderated by Jay Phipps and Megan Klima

Yu-Gi-Oh! is a trading card game based on the Manga and Anime series of the same name. To win, a player must use their deck of Monsters, Spells and Traps to defeat their opponents. Decks will be provided for new players while supplies last, and there will be cards sold on site as well. Prizes will be provided by Overdrive Games and Anime Shoppe and Konami.

TRADITION 10:45 am-11:45 am Guest of Honor: Martha Wells, “Reading and Q&A Session”
Ms. Wells was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.A. in Anthropology. She is the author of over a dozen science fiction and fantasy novels. Her first young adult fantasy, Emilie and the Hollow World, and the sequel, Emilie and the Sky World in March 2014, will be available for purchase before, during, and after her reading.

Mr. Arbuckle is a technical director and visual effects artist who currently works at Fellow LA . His filmography includes work on Thor: The Dark World, Oz the Great and Powerful, Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away, The Avengers, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
